About Philippe
Philippe Durrant is a British-Chinese tenor rapidly gaining recognition for his expressive singing and instinctive storytelling. He was recently awarded First Place at the 49th Lyndon Woodside Competition at Carnegie Hall and Second Prize at the 70th Kathleen Ferrier Awards at Wigmore Hall.
A member of Les Arts Florissants’ prestigious Le Jardin des Voix, Philippe will perform the role of Paolino in their 2027/28 international production of Cimarosa’s Il matrimonio segreto, conducted by William Christie. In 2026, he is a Carnegie Hall SongStudio Artist, and makes both his Germany and Scotland concert debuts; in a programme of Telemann with the Händelfestspielorchester Halle in Magdeburg, conducted by Attilio Cremonesi, and with the Dunedin Consort, touring a programme of Bach cantatas in Edinburgh, Glasgow and London, under the direction of John Butt.
Recent and upcoming concert highlights include Bach’s St John Passion (Evangelist) with the Avison Ensemble at Durham Cathedral; Timothy Jackson’s No Answer at JAM on the Marsh with Onyx Brass at St Bride’s Church, Fleet Street; Handel’s Messiah with the Choirs of Southwell Minster; Haydn’s The Creation with the Sine Nomine Singers; Mendelssohn’s Elijah with the North Herts Guild of Singers; Mozart’s Requiem and Regina Coeli with Beaufoy Sinfonia and Thames Philharmonic Choir at Cadogan Hall.
Philippe studied at the Royal College of Music, and is a Samling Artist. He previously studied Music at Durham University. He has performed with the Royal Ballet and Opera, English National Opera, Glyndebourne and Garsington Opera.
